Videography
My editing and shooting skill is self-taught.
I edit using Final Cut Pro.
MIE 100 Tutorial Videos
During my graduate studies at the University of Toronto, I took a role as a teaching assistant for MIE100, a first year dynamics course. My job was to create videos to explain examples and concepts for the students.
I employed the manim (mathematical animation in python) library originally developed by popular YouTuber 3blue1brown.
Find the videos on YouTube, and my code on github.
Iceland Travel vlog
I knew from the beginning of the trip that I wanted to document the experience through more than just photography. Iceland is such an incredibly unique and dreamlike landscape, and I felt that my experience would be more memorable through video.
I am very proud of the result, and watching it really brings back moving memories. A casual trip vlog like this is definitely something I want to continue to do in my future travels.
Waterloo Rocketry Competition Vlogs
I’ve produced two vlogs for Waterloo Rocketry, for both the 2017 and 2018 Spaceport America Cup events. These long (1-2 hours) vlogs are definitely on the very casual end of the spectrum, but I think that really captures the spirit of the team.
Finding the balance between documentary and entertainment value was an interesting challenge, which I hope I dealt with well.
Keyboard Typing Test
One of the more obscure hobbies that I’ve explored is the field of custom mechanical keyboards. In 2019 I built my own keyboard (read about it here), and recorded a typing test.
It sounds really satisfying, doesn’t it? Well, it feels even more satisfying to type on 👌
Waterloo Rocketry Technical Videos
From the time I joined the team in 2015 to the time I left, I helped to produce all of the technical videos for Waterloo Rocketry. This includes subsystem tests, presentations, and launch videos. Near the end I even wrote my own code to animate graphs to overlay onto engine tests, which you can read about here.
