Photography
I’ve been taking photos since 2015, and it’s been awesome to explore different techniques and document my experiences. I’m personally not interested in doing paid shoots, but I did grant rights to use one of my photos in exchange for a charitable donation. I also did the vast majority of photography for Waterloo Rocketry during my time in the team (2015 to 2018). Here’s a link to the Waterloo Rocketry Flickr.
I mainly shoot with a Sony a6000, and edit using Adobe Lightroom.
Graphic Design
My graphic design skills are self-taught.
All of these projects were fueled purely by interest ✌️
Waterloo Rocketry Logo Redesign
This logo was the result of a collaborative effort between myself and Jacob, a fellow team member. We actually started the whole redesign project after learning that the old logo was plagiarized from Battlestar Galactica by an ex-team member.
The new logo incorporates the team’s pride in our University and Canadian identity (colours and maple leaf), and our activity (rocket imagery in the stylized rocket and plume). As a bonus, the plume is shaped in a W shape.
The logo was well received by the team. Both myself and Jacob felt, and still feel that we absolutely killed it. In a good way.

Rocket Drag Race Promotional Poster
I made this poster for Rocket Drag Race, an annual event hosted by Waterloo Rocketry. I think that people look at promotional posters for such a short amount of time if at all, so it’s really important to condense everything you want to say into as few words as possible. I tried to convey information as quickly as possible, and make it obvious where people could go for more depth.
I made sure to include the link with the QR code since not everyone has ready access to a QR code scanner. I especially liked the “FREE!” sticker, it’s crazy what a simple drop shadow can do.
The team has been re-using my poster design for subsequent events in later years, and I’m told that it still gets multiple compliments every time. I’m really proud of this one.

Taxonomy of Sensors Poster
I made this poster as a gift for a Secret Santa event. It takes a special kind of person to appreciate a poster about various sensors, but that’s exactly the kind of special person for whom this was made.
The most time consuming part was gathering all of the images, as most sensor manufacturers don’t really seem to prioritize providing high quality images of their products. Understandable, but vexing.

Rocket Design Poster
Yet another poster, this one was made to explain the various components of the rocket that Waterloo Rocketry produced in 2016. We had a rare opportunity to get a large size, high quality poster printed for free. This poster was printed at 3x7 ft, and it now hangs on the wall of the Waterloo Rocketry garage bay. It has been an invaluable tool to explain different components to newcomers, although its usefulness has diminished in recent years as the rocket has changed over time.

Third Year Design Project Poster
It takes some skill to make a good poster, but does it take equivalent skill to purposely make a horrible poster? I tried to incorporate many elements of sloppy design: typos, clipping overlays, weird contrast, comic sans, poor alignment, and a distracting but wonderful background splash. It’s all topped off with dreadfully unprofessional writing (If you’re a recruiter reading this, I can assure you that my output in the workplace is of a somewhat higher calibre).
Before you ask, dear reader, the poster was for bonus marks. The content was inconsequential, marks were awarded based on whether or not the poster simply existed. 👌
